Yesterday afternoon I went over to Wenn playing field for a workout. When I got there the signs of the past weekend event was all over the place. Rubbish here, rubbish there, rubbish everywhere. My question is, Who's responsible for the cleaning of the field? Is it the vendors who sells the products? Is it the consumers who buys the products? Is it the sports council who allows such event to be hosted on our field? One thing for sure, the area in question needs to be clean and kept clean. We can't allow our only recreational area to be in such a mess. The waste managment auth, demands that before such an event, a proper waste disposal plan must be in place but yet still those rules are never enforced. We are a society of talk not action. Blah, blah, blah but never any action. This needs to be changed and rules enforced. Now that the field is in a mess, I'm calling on vendors, fans, comm member, club member to do their best to keep our field clean. Vendors need to provide bags or bins so that people can dispose of their rubbish. The council needs to place bins around the field while at the same time seeing to it that the rubbish is collected on collection days. The council also need to develop a proper waste disposal plan for we can't allow our only field to be in such a mess. Community members and visitor can and should play their part by placing their rubbish in the provided bins( after the council puts them up). Let's keep our community and field clean cause we all know and see the effect of a dirty community, afterall walking the streets of Mopo one can see plastic bottles and bags all over the place. Come on people we can do better. Mopo must unite in the fight against littering. On a blackheart note, should our Mopo team be made up of skillful players who think they are bigger than the game or a team of committed player who will paint a better picture of our community when they are out there representing Mopo? The community can't allow individuals who show no regards for teammembers/ coaches or even themselves to represent us. We need to put our feet down when it comes to team selection no matter what sport. If you feel you are bigger than the game and you can do whatever and insult other with no regards for authority, such and individual should be left home. I would much rather travel to VF and support a team the listens than a team of vagabonds. Let's see what directions management will take with this years team. Zepherinus straws Joseph.

Here I am 3 1/2 months after my last race, unfit as hell. My goal this year was to make it to Germany for world champs but looking at my training I can safely say that this is nothing more than a dream. I have wasted my time doing nothing, training only in my mind but not on the roads and track.
Lack of motivation? I have been down this road before but never for so long. Today monday 20th I'm gonna start back my training and I'm gonna do my best to post on here, weekly updates of what I did for the week. Maybe you guys out there can keep me going. Do check back for updates and my plans for the remainder of 2009.
On a sad note, we recently lost 5 members of our community, let's pray for those who lost loved ones thru death and for those who's loved ones are heading away for awhile, let's pray that the time away will give them time to reflect on their lives.

bonjour toute Moun. Sa ka fete? well i'm sitting in my room at the Abecromby Inn in Port of spain T&T, going over what i could have done to run 2:18 @ the Clico Marathon. there really wasn't much i could have done. why? well i took off from the start hitting the correct splits but the other runner where just content to stay back and take it easy. the difference between runners running for time and running for the money. 10 lonely miles into the race i realize that the goal of 2;18 was not realistic by myself so i slowed down allowing the main bunch to catch up. when the caught up to me a bunch of about 8 runner, i honestly felt pretty happy, atlast i had a group to run with but i knew it would be a tactical race to the finish. After the first half which was arrived in a pretty slow time, simon Sawe, ronnie, and i took off, dropping Cox,Richard, Pamenos and others. i tried my best to stay with them but at 19miles i realize i was running for third. the last 3 miles was hell and freaking boring but i dugged dip and took it home in 2:26, 8 min slower than the time i wanted to run. back to the drawing boards for de Z-man.
P.S i would like to extend my condolences to all the families in my sweet Mopo who have lost a loved one, please be strong. God giveth and taketh Away.
10k on saturday and a 1/2 marathon the following sunday, am i crazy? no this is what most runners do at the run barbados series. my goal was to run a good 10k and on the morrow to tackle the 1/2. well things went pretty good for me for i was able to secure a 5th place in the 10k and 3rd in the 1/2 Marathon. the 10k was what i really wanted to do well in but my first km felt like crap and i thought about dropping out a million times , and that was only the first KM. i dugged ideep and stayed in the race only to realize that by 3k i was felling pretty good, by that time i was in 6th running with my friend Cleveland and a guy from America. we stayed together till 1k to go when my self and Cleveland took off on the American, sad to say i lost to Cleveland in a sprint and that's the second time this year.time 31:17 for 5th. the following morning i jumped into the 1/2 marathon and stayed with the leader till 8k when i decided to increase the pace, things got a bit ugly when one Kenyan took off on me and a bit later heading down a hill, the Canadian and the other Kenyan tookoff on me. i remained calm and slowly worked my way towards town, caught the Kenyan with 5k to go but the canadian was too far ahead. 3rd place and a time of 1:09.23 after a hard 10k felt pretty good.. so all in all it was a pretty good weekend for the Zman.
my training buddy Marinus stephen tackled the marathon and by the looks of things he did pretty well coming in 5th. i must say i was pretty happy for him for i know he gave it his all. big up to you skelly.

Sitting at the Piaco Int airport awaiting my flight home, i finally had some alone time to go over what went wrong at the UWI Half marathon. the truth is nothing really went wrong, i'm going thru my marathon preparation phase so i'm not as fast as i can be, come to think of it i actually run faster than i did last year. i came to trinidad with the hopes of running atleast 1:07 but ended up running 1:09 for forth. yes i'm a bit disappointed for as an athlete i always want to win but at the same time i have to realize that i'm getting ready for a Marathon and i'm yet to do the training that would see me running some solid times. in hindsight running slow now is much better than running fast times now and being unable to maintain till January 25th. the real disappointment is not that i didn't run 1:07 but being beaten by two caribbean runners, namely Cleveland forde of Guyana 2nd overall and The man himself Pammy Ballantyne of St Vincent who came in 3rd. now i'm gonna head home for three solid weeks of training and head to Maratinique for a Half Marathon on Nov 30.
