UWI Half
Sitting at the Piaco Int airport awaiting my flight home, i finally had some alone time to go over what went wrong at the UWI Half marathon. the truth is nothing really went wrong, i'm going thru my marathon preparation phase so i'm not as fast as i can be, come to think of it i actually run faster than i did last year.
i came to trinidad with the hopes of running atleast 1:07 but ended up running 1:09 for forth. yes i'm a bit disappointed for as an athlete i always want to win but at the same time i have to realize that i'm getting ready for a Marathon and i'm yet to do the training that would see me running some solid times. in hindsight running slow now is much better than running fast times now and being unable to maintain till January 25th. the real disappointment is not that i didn't run 1:07 but being beaten by two caribbean runners, namely Cleveland forde of Guyana 2nd overall and The man himself Pammy Ballantyne of St Vincent who came in 3rd.
now i'm gonna head home for three solid weeks of training and head to Maratinique for a Half Marathon on Nov 30.
Top Six @ UWI SPEC 1/2 Marathon
1st Nicholas Kiprono Uganga
2nd Cleveland Forde Guyanna
3rd Pamenos ballantyne St Vincent
4th Zepherinus Joseph St Loosha
5th Richard Jones Trinidad
6th Simon Sawe Kenya
