When I got there the signs of the past weekend event was all over the place. Rubbish here, rubbish there, rubbish everywhere. My question is, Who's responsible for the cleaning of the field? Is it the vendors who sells the products? Is it the consumers who buys the products? Is it the sports council who allows such event to be hosted on our field? One thing for sure, the area in question needs to be clean and kept clean. We can't allow our only recreational area to be in such a mess. The waste managment auth, demands that before such an event, a proper waste disposal plan must be in place but yet still those rules are never enforced. We are a society of talk not action. Blah, blah, blah but never any action. This needs to be changed and rules enforced. Now that the field is in a mess, I'm calling on vendors, fans, comm member, club member to do their best to keep our field clean. Vendors need to provide bags or bins so that people can dispose of their rubbish. The council needs to place bins around the field while at the same time seeing to it that the rubbish is collected on collection days. The council also need to develop a proper waste disposal plan for we can't allow our only field to be in such a mess. Community members and visitor can and should play their part by placing their rubbish in the provided bins( after the council puts them up). Let's keep our community and field clean cause we all know and see the effect of a dirty community, afterall walking the streets of Mopo one can see plastic bottles and bags all over the place. Come on people we can do better.
Mopo must unite in the fight against littering.
On a blackheart note, should our Mopo team be made up of skillful players who think they are bigger than the game or a team of committed player who will paint a better picture of our community when they are out there representing Mopo? The community can't allow individuals who show no regards for teammembers/ coaches or even themselves to represent us. We need to put our feet down when it comes to team selection no matter what sport. If you feel you are bigger than the game and you can do whatever and insult other with no regards for authority, such and individual should be left home. I would much rather travel to VF and support a team the listens than a team of vagabonds. Let's see what directions management will take with this years team.
Zepherinus straws Joseph.
Sent from my BlackBerry® device from Digicel

Motivation

Here I am 3 1/2 months after my last race, unfit as hell. My goal this year was to make it to Germany for world champs but looking at my training I can safely say that this is nothing more than a dream. I have wasted my time doing nothing, training only in my mind but not on the roads and track.
Lack of motivation? I have been down this road before but never for so long. Today monday 20th I'm gonna start back my training and I'm gonna do my best to post on here, weekly updates of what I did for the week. Maybe you guys out there can keep me going. Do check back for updates and my plans for the remainder of 2009.
On a sad note, we recently lost 5 members of our community, let's pray for those who lost loved ones thru death and for those who's loved ones are heading away for awhile, let's pray that the time away will give them time to reflect on their lives.
Zepherinus "knockay" Joseph
Sent from my BlackBerry® device from Digicel

Sometimes it's better to run for the glory.

bonjour toute Moun. Sa ka fete?
well i'm sitting in my room at the Abecromby Inn in Port of spain T&T, going over what i could have done to run 2:18 @ the Clico Marathon. there really wasn't much i could have done. why? well i took off from the start hitting the correct splits but the other runner where just content to stay back and take it easy. the difference between runners running for time and running for the money. 10 lonely miles into the race i realize that the goal of 2;18 was not realistic by myself so i slowed down allowing the main bunch to catch up. when the caught up to me a bunch of about 8 runner, i honestly felt pretty happy, atlast i had a group to run with but i knew it would be a tactical race to the finish. After the first half which was arrived in a pretty slow time, simon Sawe, ronnie, and i took off, dropping Cox,Richard, Pamenos and others. i tried my best to stay with them but at 19miles i realize i was running for third. the last 3 miles was hell and freaking boring but i dugged dip and took it home in 2:26, 8 min slower than the time i wanted to run.
back to the drawing boards for de Z-man.

P.S i would like to extend my condolences to all the families in my sweet Mopo who have lost a loved one, please be strong. run faster than i did last year.
i came to trinidad with the hopes of running atleast 1:07 but ended up running 1:09 for forth. yes i'm a bit disappointed for as an athlete i always want to win but at the same time i have to realize that i'm getting ready for a Marathon and i'm yet to do the training that would see me running some solid times. in hindsight running slow now is much better than running fast times now and being unable to maintain till January 25th. the real disappointment is not that i didn't run 1:07 but being beaten by two caribbean runners, namely Cleveland forde of Guyana 2nd overall and The man himself Pammy Ballantyne of St Vincent who came in 3rd.
now i'm gonna head home for three solid weeks of training and head to Maratinique for a Half Marathon on Nov 30.
Well I'm happy to report that after 3 starts I am finally the Raid Du Lougarou champion. The race was held in the beautiful town of Robert, Martinique. The course is 5k of flat 5k of rolling hills and 5k of flat back into town, pretty tough course and that's why its called Lougarou= something that's difficult, hard etc.
Race started at about 4pm, a bit warm but ok. At the start guys were fighting for position so I kept myself at the front keeping a close eye on claude nohile the Martinique champ among others. At 5k myself and Claude took off followed closely by Eddie Boulate of Guadaloupe. The first hill saw Claude jumping ahead of me but I stayed relaxed knowing there was more to come. After the first decent I forged ahead of Claude and suddenly he seems to fall way back, realizing that he was in trouble I upped the tempo and tried climing the hills at a relaxed pace knowing that I was the better climber. I must say I felt the effect of the OECS half Marathon in my legs and kept praying that I made it to the top. After the hills I basically run as easy as possible back into town, knowing that I had this one in the bag.
At the finish I met with my boy Kashinco, who I was staying with. One could see that he was very happy( that dude has a lot of confidence in me, thanks man). The price ceremony took some time but when I was finally called up I used that time to apologize to the people of Martinique for the rise in violent crimes committed in their country by St Lucians while at the same time asking them not to treat all St Lucians like criminals for there are good looshans all around. I must say it was well received.
Thanks to kashinco and his mom Miss Rachel for being so hospitable, God bless.
Zepherinus knockay Joseph
Sent from my BlackBerry® device from Digicel

Welcome

I'm sitting on a bus on my way to Vf and I'm blogging.
