For a teenager, she had comanding presence, and that is probably the reason why she featured so prominently through the lens of of camera before her passing. Yania was literally and figuratively "head and shoulders" above her peers. I remember Yania being one of the few volunteers who consistently attended the important preparatory meetings for the 2006 Piton Malta Road Relay. It was her first assignment with the Mon Repos Youth and Sports Council. At the Road Relay which took place on Sunday 18th February 2006, she accepted the mike and the honour, and offered prayers for a safe and incident free event. So sad to see a fine young lady cut off in the prime of her life. Perhaps we have been deprived of a treasure trove.

Yania was a really great person to be around; very respectful, friendly and smart. She always made great contributions to our conversations and she always made things look positive. Yania will be missed by all and we all know she can never be replaced by any other person.

Yania was a loving and kind hearted friend. She was a joy to know and a treasure to have around. Her passing has affected even people who never met her. She will be missed. She is gone but her memory and smile will live on in our hearts, always.
It will take a while for me to forget that pleasant disposition that Yania displayed. The truth is I do not want to forget it. Because in her lay the qualities that a teacher looks for in her students today. It is unbearably sad that she had to go and at such an early age but i trust that God knows best. I do hope that her mother will eventually find healing for this tremendous loss that she has had to face there.
